When a bus driver working out of NYC can't read or speak English, can't follow road signs, and wipes out entire families in Virginia, why would NY's governor not turn over any records we have on that driver, his training, his abilities, and his life? I guess that dead family isn't worth Kathy's time so she's declined the subpoena from the DOT. So amazing. What leadership!? NY should be so proud, right?
Not so much. And this work spells it all out.
Albany Locked the Door
Verse 1
Five caskets on a highway shoulder
Work zone slowed but the bus kept comin'
Sean Duffy's on the phone, subpoena in his hand
Albany's got the papers, sittin' locked in a filing can
Verse 2
"We didn't test him," that's the story they're sellin'
Point it south to Virginia, keep the finger pointed elsewhere
Forty-four in hospitals, a wedding never happened
Meanwhile the politicians trade their talking points like cards
Chorus
Hey — where's the paperwork, where'd it go?
Albany's locked the door, nobody's home
Five are in the ground, families wanna know
Stop playin' governor, stop the political show
We're New Yorkers, we don't scare — we just want the truth to show
Verse 3
Every side's got a headline, every side's got a villain
Feds wave the flag of law and order, state waves back "you're heartless"
Somewhere in the middle there's a driving school, a road test
And a family from Massachusetts who won't make it home for Christmas
Bridge
Not asking who to blame in a district or a district line
Just asking somebody, anybody, to open up the file
No more press conferences, no more "we'll get back to you"
Just give the families what the hell is due
Outro
Albany, Albany — open up the door
Albany, Albany — that's what we're askin' for
