I'm old enough to remember about 4 and a half decades of elected representatives in NY state. Republicans, democrats, independents, characters, the good, the bad, and the truly ugly.
But Kathy, Zoran, and crew have taken it to a whole new level.
25 years ago (in less than 2 weeks), NYC was attacked. Thousands killed instantly. Tens of thousands of first responders died from the aftermath. Lives changed, altered, and destroyed.
And today, we have an Islamunist mayor of NYC and a "feminist" governor who covers up for Muslim men. We have turned a corner and gone in the absolutely wrong direction. At the direction of the democrat party.
Democrats say they are a "big tent party." And that makes sense because they need the radicals, the socialists, the communists, and the Islamists to hold onto whatever power they still grasp.
But that time is about to end. NYers aren't as stupid, gullible, and as frightened as they think.
Their time in power is growing short.
And the centrist NYer is going to enjoy the future.
Hijab Hochul
[Intro]
Late August, in the shadow of the towers that fell...
[Verse 1]
Twenty-five years since the smoke and the fire,
Since the towers came down and the world watched them burn,
She walks through the doors where the ashes still linger,
A scarf on her head — a curious turn.
[Verse 2]
They called her a fighter, they called her a symbol,
A voice for the women who wanted the vote,
But there in the mosque, with the cameras all rolling,
She traded her voice for a borrowed black coat.
[Pre-Chorus]
It wasn't a hijab, no — just a headscarf they said,
But the message was heavy as the silence it spread.
[Chorus]
She covered her head, oh, she covered her head,
Not for the women whose rights she once led,
Two weeks from the day that the towers came down,
Ol' Kathy bowed low while the badges stood 'round.
[Verse 3]
The officers gathered, the ones who remember,
The ones who ran in when the buildings gave way,
They stood there in protest, in coats of November,
While she wrapped up her hair for a photo op day.
[Verse 4]
Ted from Texas, he said it clever:
"Wear it each day, you're so decent, so kind,
Never mind the rights of the women out yonder,
That's not your concern, no, that's left behind."
[Bridge]
Feminist icon, or a bow to the crowd?
A scarf isn't freedom when it's worn to be loud,
Twenty-five years and we still light the flame,
For the ones who were lost — don't dishonor their name.
[Final Chorus]
She covered her head, oh, she covered her head,
Not for the daughters, but the votes still ahead,
Less than two weeks from the darkest of days,
She traded her convictions for the cameras' gaze.
[Outro]
She covered her head... she covered her head...
For the anniversary... she covered her head...
