My children are the greatest gifts, the greatest joys in my life. I can't imagine my life without them though, for quite some time, I faced that possibility.
This song is fully inspired by my beautiful, smart, daughter who works hard for what she wants. She's not afraid to get dirty, she not afraid of the entrepreneurial endeavor, and she's really intrigued by what makes people tick.
She may have her mother's beauty and charm, but she's still my girl!
My Girl
[Verse 1]
She came into this world seven weeks early,
Tiny hands, fighting for a breath of her own.
We called her "Angel" back then,
‘Cause we hadn’t yet chosen her name.
[Verse 2]
Those early years — they felt like sunshine.
She laughed, she cried, she painted our days.
A dog by her side, two cats in her arms,
And a home full of music and grace.
[Chorus]
She’s my girl — my heart, my joy, my song.
She’s my reason when the nights feel long.
Oh, she came later in my life than most girls do,
But I thank the Lord each day she came at all.
She’s my girl.
[Verse 3]
She picked up a guitar before she was ten,
Drew the world from the light in her eyes.
Said she liked my old songs from the Sixties —
Guess that made me young again inside.
[Verse 4]
But school, now, that wasn’t her tune.
One day she brought me a long, written plan —
Said, “Dad, I’ve been thinking ’bout homeschool.”
And that was that — she took her stand.
[Chorus]
She’s my girl — strong, stubborn, sweet, and kind.
She walks her own road and she don’t look behind.
The years might pass, but one truth stays true —
She’s my girl.
[Bridge]
Before I knew it, she was riding tall in the saddle,
Falling, rising, learning how to stand proud.
From ribbons to heartaches, barn dust to glory —
She earned her place without saying it loud.
[Verse 5]
At seventeen she walked that stage,
Degree in hand, eyes full of dreams.
Now she’s out there on that big campus —
Chasing life, chasing everything.
[Chorus – Final]
She’s my girl — my laughter when days grow dim,
My reason for believing in love again.
She came later in my life than most dreams do,
But I couldn’t be prouder
… she’s my girl.
[Outro]
Yeah, she’s my girl.
Still my Angel — my heart’s greatest song.
