They Only Way to Save This Country
Democratic Socialism?

I recently read a post on the ol' FarceBook which said: "Democratic socialism is the only way to save this country; for us to truly become our brothers’, and our sisters,’ helpers."
Um. Just a question from the peanut gallery: Why do you need a particular form of government to become "our brothers' and sisters' helpers?" Can't you just do that of your own accord if that's what you're passionate about?
But I digress.
One of the more insightful comments said: "Yes!!! I'm proud of NYC leading the way."
Wow! Historically enlightened they ain't but let's go with it ...
It'll be interesting to see how this works out in the Big Apple but I ain't bettin' on individual liberties coming out the other end of this experiment intact. Wealth and tax dollars will flow out of NYC by the billions while those seeking freebies will flow in like a steady stream of hungry leeches. And they'll vote to keep those freebies flowin'. We've been watching exactly that happen in California for the better part of two decades and NYC just voted itself right into the same nightmare. Good on ya, NYC!
I'll be honest, though. My first thought on reading that post was, "these are well-meaning, good-hearted people who just don't know what the hell they're talking about and are completely ignorant of history."
Then I realized that these people are, like me, in their 60s and really ought to know better by now, right?
Maybe those are the folks that the old cold war commies called "useful idiots."
But being in their 60s means that they had a reasonably good education (prior to the progressive take-over of American schools) and they've lived through the collectivist experiments like the Soviet Union, Romania, Czechoslovakia, and East Germany ... the absolute collapse of Venezuela, and the human rights disasters that are North Korea and Cuba ... and of course, California.
In other words, they've lived long enough to observe the results of collectivism from their cushy, capitalist lifestyles full of lattes and iPhones, laptops and instacart deliveries, Teslas, free WiFi, 401Ks, cultural stability, year 'round avacados and prime beef in every grocery store and they still think we did it wrong. Morons AND dumbasses ... all of them.
Do we have problems in the US? Of course. But what does it mean when people risk their lives by the millions to escape socialist dictatorships to come here? Could it possibly mean that we might be a better place to live and prosper? You'd think not listening to some of these brainiacs.
Nobody says (with a straight face, anyway) that we need to "become our brother's and sister's helpers" thinking the government is the compassionate, efficient, and effective path with it's departments, policies, forms, red tape, and bureaucracies. Not unless you've been in a coma for the last 60 years or are a complete idiot. Or if you're a leftist. But then, perhaps, I repeat myself.
We've all lived long enough to watch the Golden State become the Newsome Feces & Homeless Encampment State while Oregon, Washington State, Illinois, and New York have all sunken into unrecoverable debt, fraud, waste, and taxpayer abuse while experiencing an exodus of wealth and talent.
All because socialist policies are so frickin' awesome!
Congratulations, NYC. You're about to learn the lesson that people all over the planet for the last 100 years learned: You can bring socialism in with a vote but you've got to shoot your way out.
Danish author Mikkel Clair Nissen in his book "Manipulism and the Weapon of Guilt: Collectivism Exposed" describes himself as a former socialist, finally liberated, who has dedicated his life to exposing the subliminal secrets of collectivism.
